Wei Qiu

Program Coordinator

Dr. Wei Qiu is the Asia-Pacific Programs Manager in the office of Global Engineering Programs at Purdue. In her current role at GEP, Wei manages study abroad programs for Purdue Engineering schools in Asia-Pacific region, including the signature program of undergraduate semester exchange at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and semester exchange in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Wei teaches a pre-departure orientation course for ETA-SJTU & ETA-HKUST (ME 297) and accompanies the students to Shanghai and Hong Kong for intercultural learning and industry visits. Wei has won a Department of State grant to diversify study abroad participation in East Asia and a SAIL grant to design a new pre-engineering summer course in Japan and China. ei graduated from Michigan State University with a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology. Wei enjoys learning about different cultures and languages. She speaks Mandarin, English, and Japanese.

Nikki Xu

SJTU International Programs Supervisor

Ms. Nikki Xu works in the International Cooperation Office of the SJTU School of Mechanical Engineering, and serves as the coordinator for housing, activities, and course enrollment for the ETA program.

Professor Sa Weiqi

Chinese Culture Instructor

Professor Sa Weiqi teaches Chinese 280, an immersive program in Chinese history and culture, which students take during the first module of the ETA program. Through this course, Professor Weiqi oversees opportunities to travel and sample unique foods and activities while developing a greater understanding of Chinese culture.

Professor Susan

Chinese Language Instructor

Professor Susan teaches Chinese 101, an Introduction to the Chinese Language, which students also take during the first module of the program. This course provides plenty of opportunities to learn and practice the structure of Chinese language, as well as some common words and phrases.
